When you face a challenge and win…

I was going through old notebooks and found this quote from a character in “Dragon’s Domain”.  I don’t know if that was a book, tv show(a search shows a Space 1999 episode called this) but it is a nice quote any ways.

When you face a challenge and win, then you have this feeling that tells you why you were ever born to this life.  Many people learn to be afraid to face the challenge, and that is the biggest mistake in their whole lives.

Mass Murderers are allowed to read books in prison but this guy isn’t?

Gottfrid Svartholm (aka Anakata) is one of the founders of PirateBay, right now he is in a high-security prison located in Denmark. the thing that got my attention is that Anders Breijvik a mass murderer who killed innocent children has more access to the public then a man “breaking” the copyright laws. the man is not even allowed to read books or getting visited by his own mother!

One bright day

One bright day
In the middle of the night
Two dead men
Got up to fight
Back to back
They faced one another
Pulled out a knife
And shot each other
The deaf policeman heard to the shot
And with no legs, ran to the spot
If you don’t believe my story is true
Ask the blind man, he saw it too.

Finally, a Billboard That Creates Drinkable Water Out of Thin Air

I’ve never cared much for billboards. Not in the city, not out of the city — not anywhere, really. It’s like the saying in that old Five Man Electrical Band song. So when the creative director of an ad agency in Peru sent me a picture of what he claimed was the first billboard that produces potable water from air, my initial reaction was: gotta be a hoax, or at best, a gimmick.

Except it’s neither: The billboard pictured here is real, it’s located in Lima, Peru, and it produces around 100 liters of water a day (about 26 gallons) from nothing more than humidity, a basic filtration system and a little gravitational ingenuity.

Let’s talk about Lima for a moment, the largest city in Peru and the fifth largest in…

Tell Your Representative to Vote for the Innovation Act

Tell Your Representative to Vote for the Innovation Act

Creative Commons Attribution Share Alike phone icon by Anahintze Call 415-413-4137

Dial the number above, you’ll be prompted for your zip code, and you will be connected to your Congressperson. Urge your representative to take a stand against patent trolls and vote for the Innovation Act (H.R. 3309) this week.

Privacy Info: This telephone calling service uses Twilio to connect you to your representative. Information about your call, including your phone number and the time and length of your call, will be collected by Twilio and subject to Twilio’s privacy policy.

  • “Hello. I am one of your constituents, and I am calling you in support of H.R. 3309, the Innovation Act. The Innovation Act goes a long way to fight patent trolls, bad actors who are taking advantage of the patent system and are a drain on our economy. Please vote in favor of the Innovation Act this week.”
  • If you’d like, mention a few words on why you support legislation combating trolls (Has a troll harmed your business? Another business in your district? Do you worry about the threat of patent trolls?)
  • After your call, be sure to share this page on Twitter, on Facebook, and on other social networks.

Don’t want to give a call? You can email your representative using EFF’s Action Center.

The details: this week, the House of Representatives will vote on the Innovation Act of 2013 (H.R. 3309), the best troll-killing bill we’ve seen yet. The Innovation Act will make life harder for the trolls by:

  • making it easier and cheaper to fight against the trolls in court
  • requiring trolls to make their cases for infringement publicly and with specifics
  • protecting end users and consumers when they face suits from patent trolls

This bill has bipartisan support, and the Judiciary Committee sent to it to the House floor with overwhelming approval. But most elected officials do not understand how dramatically trolls threaten the American innovation economy. Jobs are lost, companies shuttered, and they cost our country $29 billion dollars per year. Your call right now is vitally important.

French artist gives new perspective on Sailor Moon and Disney princesses with X-ray illustrations

The internet will never cease to amuse me.

PX 1

In recent years, there has been a backlash against the numerous princesses in Disney’s films. Criticisms have been lobbed at films spanning the many decades of the studio’s animated canon, with complaints that earlier princesses are too inactive, and that more recent heroines are too sexualized in design.

Regardless of whether or not you agree that Disney’s princesses are having a negative influence on the impressionable minds of children, I think we can all agree that what’s most important is not how someone looks, but rather the quality of their character and integrity. The highest form of beauty is inner beauty, and it’s important that we help our children develop the skills necessary to look inside of a person to see what they’re really made of.

And I can’t think of a better way to do that than by examining X-rays of Disney princesses.
